Swift action by our rural Firies

4th January 2025
We thank the RFS crews for their swift action with the bush fire in Crookhaven, suspected of being started by illegal fireworks. The situation was elevated to Watch and Act late yesterday afternoon.  After work by ten fire trucks and water bombing aircraft, it is now at Patrol level and RFS firefighters have remained at the scene throughout today, managing hotspots to prevent reignition under gusty northeasterly winds. Crews will remain on scene over the coming hours to continue patrolling and monitoring the fire line.
It could have been a lot worse. We would like the public to be especially vigilant and responsible in the upcoming few days with the upcoming extreme fire danger conditions. Bushfires put our firefighters, first responders, the public and property at risk. Also our cultural heritage and environment, wildlife is put in danger.
Happy New Year. Please take care.
