As Traditional Owners, caring for Country is our cultural obligation, work we do on behalf of everyone. Our Indigenous Rangers Program is one way we achieve this.
We acknowledge the Commonwealth Government through the National Indigenous Australians Agency for ongoing funding which we finally secured for our Ranger crew at the end of 2024, which commenced via the Indigenous Ranger Program in 2025.
For too long our caring for Country work was carried out via one off, typically small, grant funding which made continuity difficult. Despite this however, the stability and dedication of our team has been unwavering - again, this work is a cultural obligation and a credit to those staff from the leadership team to on the ground positions, not to mention our Board.
Indigenous Rangers Programs run all across Australia and what makes it a successful program is that it is culturally appropriate. The Indigenous Rangers Program takes on the same value system that First Nations people have had for thousands and thousands of years, and that's to look after the place. It's what our communities teach to our young kids. It's part of intergenerational equity that our youth are empowered to look after Country the same was as Elders have done over thousands of years.
We are all just here as custodians, and it's important to leave Country in a fit state for the next generation.
