Roads and Infrastructure

Roseby Park is one single lot owned by Jerrinja LALC. This means we are responsible for the maintenance and upkeep not just of all residential and community buildings but infrastructure (roads, curbs, gutters and footpaths).

In 2017-18 we partnered with Shoalhaven City Council to secure funding for the first major roads upgrade in 35 years. Roads were in terrible condition due to lack of maintenance and no government assistance to that point, with the LALC having self funded minor repairs where possible. Our CEO co-managed this major infrastructure upgrade with great assistance from the Aboriginal Liaison Officer at Shoalhaven City Council, which greatly improved resident access and amenity.

In 2021 we received more major infrastructure funding under the NSW Government Roads to Home project. In addition to our internal staff, we engaged external project managers, originally R&C Civil and then 18fifty3 to finalise the project with a Completion Certificate issued in 2024.

Infrastructure projects of this scale of course come with their challenges (not least of which was undertaking this project during the COVID pandemic). However the outcomes from this project cannot be overstated. Investigative works undertaken as part of the Roads to Home project uncovered some examples of grossly substandard original stormwater drainage work, which have now been rectified. Our footpaths, stormwater drainage, and roads are now some of the best and most recently upgraded in the Culburra and Orient Point area.

And importantly, we were able to offer employment opportunities for community members in the process.

Many thanks to all the funders, project partners, contractors and community members who made this work possible and to residents for your patience as works were carried out.
